Silkweed will present "Jane Franklin - an examined life." at Cygnet Folk Festival 11 - 13 January 2008.

Silkweed will perform Maria - Island of Dreams at the Swansea Town Hall as part of From France to Freycinet" festival.
17th May 2008 8pm Rosny Historic Barn
Silkweed will perform Maria - Island of Dreams in the in one of the oldest stone barns in Australia, now a beautiful performance space. Just over the bridge in Rosny, next to Eastlands Shopping Centre.
Silkweed's "Maria Island of Dreams" depicts the fascinating history of a small island off the East Coast of Tasmania. This multimedia presentation was chosen for inclusion in Tasmania's premier cultural event "Ten Days on the Island." Silkweed's Maria - Island of Dreams was performed to critical acclaim during Cygnet Folk Festival & Tasmania's Premier Arts Festival - Ten Days on the Island in 2007.

Silkweed's latest production "Jane Franklin-an examined life" is based on the fascinating life of Jane Franklin....a woman ahead of her time; she was an explorer and adventurer, a prolific diarist and wife of Sir John Franklin, Arctic explorer and one-time Governor of Tasmania. John Franklin died searching for the North-West passage and his widow spent her later years ensuring his place in the history books.
A musical, theatrical and visual journey through the extraordinary life of Jane Franklin; explorer, diarist, campaigner and wife of Arctic explorer and Tasmanian governor, Sir John Franklin. Violin, cello, piano, accordion and voice, combine to weave an evocative musical and visual journey!

Silkweed will perform Jane Franklin - An examined life in the recently restored Palais in Franklin, 8 km downriver from Huonville.
23rd May 7.30 pm Brookfield Winery
Silkweed will perform Jane Franklin - An examined life in the lovely atmospheric performance space at the Brookfield Winery, Channel Highway, Margate. Meals and wine available.
